The self-denying ordinance can by this stage be somewhat relaxed, so I am now allowing a few more ‘repertory’ pieces (not that I should have found any difficulty in continuing with ‘rarer’ works). By this stage, I thought it was also reasonable to allow composers already featured to return, though the limit of one work per season remains. (Wagner is an exception, since I thought it was now time to start on a Ring: the first two instalments can be staged this season, and the second two next, prior to an entire cycle…)
