Not a vintage year for opera performances, at least in quantity. Returning to Brexit-Insel, even with as many escapes as humanly possible, has had a considerable hand in that. This has nevertheless been the first year in which I have seen more than one Salieri opera. It would be nice to think it will not be the last, but that seems unlikely. As usual, concert performances are included, as are works performed 'as' operas, thus Handel oratorios and even Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde. Concerts and a combined tally will follow.
